Do you know well about Tungsten Carbide Balls ?

Definition :

Tungsten Carbide Ball: commonly known as tungsten carbide beads, tungsten carbide sphere, hard alloy ball, refers to a ball made from WC powder with binders like colbalt, nickel, etc..

Properties:

Carbide ball is famous for its high hardness, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and bending resistance. Therefore, it’s ideal for applications where extreme conditions must be served.

Grade: Miller manufactured 4 main grade ( chemical composition) of  carbide balls

  • WC92% + 8% Co  (In request of more wear-resistance, we suggest to use WC-Co grades. )

  • WC92% + 8% Ni (In most corrosion-wear situations, an optimum choice is the WC-Ni grades, which are resistant down to pH 2 to 3.)

  • W85%-97%+Ni+Fe Tungsten balls (Density 15.5-18.5g/cm3, mostly are used in the firld of shots and counterweight. such as the fish pendant, Oil drilling balance,Ball valves and bearings,Shotgun bullet,Armor-piercing bullet…)

  • W99.95%Pure tungsten balls (Density 19.0-19.2g/cm3, mostly are used in Aerospace, aviation, electrical Instrumentation, labiratory…)

Application :

Tungsten carbide balls are engineered for exceptional wear resistance, high hardness, and outstanding dimensional stability, making them a premium choice for demanding grinding and milling applications.

They are widely used as high-performance grinding media, particularly in fine grinding and ultra-fine dispersion processes where contamination control, consistent particle size reduction, and long service life are critical.

In addition to grinding and milling applications, tungsten carbide balls are also applied in:

  • precision hydraulic and high-pressure valve systems,
  • high-load and high-speed bearing assemblies,
  • ball screws and linear motion systems,
  • precision gauging, inspection, and metrology instruments,
  • flow control and instrumentation devices.
  • counterweight and downhole tool applications in oil drilling environments.

Thanks to their superior impact resistance and structural integrity under extreme mechanical stress, tungsten carbide balls ensure stable and efficient performance in continuous operation environments, including high-energy milling, abrasive slurry systems, and precision mechanical assemblies.

As a professional tungsten carbide balls producer, Miller Carbide keeps stock of 0.4 mm to 20 mm in metric and 1/16″ to 1-1/4″ in inch sizes to ensure fast and on-time delivery. For dimensions not covered in our standard stock range, customized production is also available upon request, with flexible manufacturing support to meet specific application requirements.
